🎓 Eligibility

Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer - Central Cadre:

For Central Cadre AAO/AAO posts, the candidate must satisfy the core degree requirement below.

1Bachelor degree from a recognized University or Institute.

Desirable qualifications include Chartered Accountant, Cost & Management Accountant, Company Secretary, Masters in Commerce, Masters in Business Studies, MBA (Finance), or Masters in Business Economics.


Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer - State Cadre:

For State Cadre AAO/AAO posts, both conditions are required.

1Bachelor degree from a recognized University or Institute.
2Proficiency in the regional or official language of the concerned State, with certificate of proficiency at Secondary School Examination level from a recognized State/Central Board.

Desirable qualifications include CA, CMA, CS, Masters in Commerce, Masters in Business Studies, MBA (Finance), or Masters in Business Economics.


Junior Statistical Officer (JSO):

For Junior Statistical Officer, the candidate must satisfy one accepted qualification path.

1Bachelor degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level.
OR
2Bachelor degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.

Statistical Investigator Grade-II:

For Statistical Investigator Grade-II, the candidate must have a bachelor degree in one of the accepted subjects.

1Bachelor degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Demography, Population Studies, Operation Research, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Computer Application, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence from a recognized University or Institute.

All Other CGL Posts:

For all other CGL posts, the candidate must satisfy the common graduate qualification.

1Bachelor degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

Candidates appearing in the final year of graduation can apply, but they must possess the essential qualification by 01 August 2026.

🧭 Selection Process

Tier-I is an objective type computer based examination and carries negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer. Tier-II is also computer based; Paper-I is compulsory for all shortlisted candidates, Paper-II is for Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II candidates, and Paper-III is for Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer candidates shortlisted for those posts. Section-III Computer Knowledge Test and Section-IV Data Entry Speed Test in Paper-I are qualifying in nature, with higher standards for posts where those skills are prescribed. Minimum qualifying marks are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for all other categories. Final selection is made on the basis of overall Tier-II performance and the post preferences submitted by the candidate.

📝 Job Description

Staff Selection Commission has released the official notice for Combined Graduate Level Examination 2026. The recruitment is for Group B and Group C posts in different ministries, departments and offices of the Government of India. The number of vacancies is tentative and is around 12,256 as per the official notice. Applications must be submitted online through the SSC website or the mySSC mobile application. Candidates should complete one-time registration on the new SSC website before submitting the CGL application form. The basic educational requirement is a bachelor degree, with extra subject requirements for Junior Statistical Officer, Statistical Investigator Grade-II and some account/audit posts. The examination will be held in Tier-I and Tier-II computer based stages, and final merit will be prepared mainly from Tier-II performance.
