National Defence Academy - Army Wing:

NDA Army Wing:

1Age / marital status: Only unmarried male/female candidates born not earlier than 01 January 2008 and not later than 01 January 2011 are eligible.
2Education: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or University.
3Appearing candidates: Candidates appearing in 12th class can apply, but 11th class appearing candidates are not eligible.
4Vacancy note: 208 total Army vacancies, including 198 male and 10 female vacancies.

National Defence Academy - Navy Wing:

NDA Navy Wing:

1Age / marital status: Only unmarried male/female candidates born from 01 January 2008 to 01 January 2011 are eligible.
2Education: 12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent.
3Appearing candidates: 12th appearing candidates can apply subject to producing proof by the prescribed date.

2Education: 12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern or equivalent.
3Course detail: Selected candidates join the four-year B.Tech course at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, as per Naval requirements.
4Vacancy note: 24 total Naval Academy vacancies, including 21 male and 03 female vacancies, all Executive Branch.

The written examination has Mathematics for 300 marks and General Ability Test for 600 marks, both of 2.5 hours duration. Objective papers carry negative marking for wrong answers. Candidates who qualify the written examination are called for SSB testing. SSB has Stage I with Officer Intelligence Rating tests and Picture Perception and Description Test, followed by Stage II with interview, group testing officer tasks, psychology tests and conference. Air Force Flying preference candidates must qualify CPSS where applicable. Final allocation is based on eligibility, medical fitness, merit, preference and available vacancies.

📝 Job Description

Union Public Service Commission has released the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination II 2026 notification. The examination will be conducted on 13 September 2026 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy for the 158th course and the 120th Indian Naval Academy Course commencing from 01 July 2027. The total tentative number of vacancies is 394. Online application started on 20 May 2026 and candidates can apply up to 06:00 PM on 09 June 2026 through the official UPSC online portal. Only unmarried male and female candidates born from 01 January 2008 to 01 January 2011 are eligible as per the notification. Army Wing requires 12th class pass or equivalent, while Air Force, Naval Wings and Naval Academy require 12th class pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates appearing in class 12 can also apply, but class 11 appearing candidates are not eligible. Selection includes the UPSC written examination followed by SSB intelligence and personality testing, medical standards and final merit-cum-preference allocation.
